“I don’t know WHY people go to the moon when there is SO MUCH magic down here!”
This is a quote from one of our newly certified Open Water Divers Kathy… who subsequently went on to do her Advanced Open Water course! She came up from a night dive and said the above quote. She said the night dive was the most incredible day of her life, and the dive was a cross between Disney’s Aladdin and Tangled!
And she’s right! The sparkling bioluminescence twinkling like the stars, the rapidly changing colours of an octopus going through every hue from green to blue, the glowing beady red eyes of the countless shrimp peeking out from any nook and cranny… The shining creatures enshrouded in the blackness making you feel like you’re on another planet… or it’s magic. Ahhhhhhhhhh,
The Night Dive.
Fire coral says: Don’t touch me!
Do you see a sea fan?
Yes you do. However, it is encrusted with fire coral. Although fire coral also grows independently, it can envelope other corals such as this sea fan.
If contact is made with skin, it will produce a VERY STRONG burning sensation. It’s nature’s way of asking you not to touch corals, as you will kill them.
There’s a little more about coral contact found at this website: http://www.sei.org/touch.html
The Sea has a hard enough time coping with other things in the world, let’s try to leave The Sea untouched when we visit her world!
The Haliburton Wreck – spooky and so cool!
This awesome 30m/100ft dive is so cool! You descend into the dark and hit the top of the wreck and feel like you’re flying! This wreck was sunk in the beginning of the 90′s and has become such a beautiful haven for corals and fishies!
